When receiving critical feedback from reviewers on your research grant application, make sure that you value the feedback for all that it is worth. Criticism can sting, and often the first reaction may be to reject it outright. Your rationalization might be that they ‘haven’t understood’, were ‘unfairly critical’, or tried to ‘kill’ the proposal.
Our view is different. To us, all criticism is extremely valuable feedback: you just need to work out how to use it to your advantage.
If you extract all the value from the criticisms by wisely and strategically acting on them, your next research grant proposal is going to be much better, with a correspondingly greater chance to succeed.
